HomesByOwner.com Provides *National Exposure. Local Experts* For Private Sales Real Estate Listings

The HomesByOwner.com For Sale By Owner marketing solution provides *National Exposure. Local Experts'. Very few FSBO websites offer this opportunity.

The other day I was speaking with a seller on the Durham Region HomesByOwner.com website. They stated that decided to use our real estate marketing solution for private sales because there was a local contact. They did not want to sell their own home on a For Sale By Owner site that does nothing but sell some For Sale yard signs.

They went on to say it was reassuring to have someone that had been a realtor for 15 years in Durham Region that they could call. To have someone that had 'been there, done that' meant a lot to them when selling the highest  priced possession that they had ever owned.

Selling privately on the Durham Region HomesByOwner.com site could not be easier. With our proven real estate marketing tools and the help of an ex-realtor, you are well on your way to joining our successful private sales.

HomesByOwner.com Provides Premium Advertising To Sell Private Real Estate Sales In Durham Region

My Durham Region HomesByOwner.com website markets private real estate sales to get them sold. Unfortunately, I am going to have to unload on some real estate agents to make my point.

Here is an ad I saw recently that I will use an example. I will change the name of the realtor to protect the guilty.

"Must sell Motivated Seller 4bd 3bath call 'Agents name' (sales rep, real estate 'company name')@ 555-555-5555"

Yep, that's it. Short and sweet. And there were not photos. No link to a website for more information. No price. No address. You have one option. Call me. I bet the agents phone is ringing off the hook. I wonder if the seller granted permission to say 'Must sell Motivated Seller'. Of if they know that their home is being marketed by advertising that looks like a 10 year old wrote it. Not much more I can say about it other than it is a weak attempt by a professional to sell something that is worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Now take a look at HomesByOwner of Durham Region advertising. We provide plenty of photos, a full description and a link to the sellers web address on HomesByOwner.com. There a reader can get all the details and contact the owner by phone or email. Impressive, eh?

If you are thinking of selling Durham Region real estate, list on my website. I will take a very aggressive attempt to get you a buyer.

Some Real Estate Agents Are Living In The 1980's - HomesByOwner.com Sells Properties Like It Was 2008

That's right, some real estate agents are living in the 1980's. Here is a good example.

A few weeks ago I had a real estate owner contact me about listing his property on the HomesByOwner of Durham Region For Sale By Owner website. I went to his home, took the pictures and gathered the information to build a professional presentation on our FSBO site. It was at this time he informed me that he was going to list the property privately but had also made arrangements with a realtor to be listed on the MLS system.

A few days later, I dropped off some feature sheets of his private sale home to him. On the lawn was a sign for a local real estate company. It contained the name of the company and the phone number. That's it. No agents name. No website. Just the brokerage name and phone number.

What's wrong with this picture? We are now in the information age. Consumers do not want to 'call the salesman'. They want to go to the internet, gather all the details, then decide whether they want to proceed. This real estate company gave the potential buyer one option. Call us and we will answer your questions. Rather 1980's, is it not?

HomesByOwner.com has a proven system that works for private real estate sellers. Our yard sign contains both a phone number and web address. In the sample below, you will see there are areas for us to install 3" black numbers to personalize each sign. All Durham Region homes for sale privately are assigned their own 5 digit code. It is like each of our private list real estate listings has it's own website. All the buyer has to do is type www.HomesByOwner.com/12345 into their browser and they get what they are looking for. Information.

HomesByOwner.com

Now if you are a real estate agent and you are marketing properties this way, please don't change a thing. You are helping to dig the hole a little deeper to bury an industry that is becoming more tarnished by the day.

Wait til you read my next post. This customer plus 2 others, called me yesterday (Monday, March 17, 2008) and unloaded their experience with real estate agents. That's right, 3 calls in one day. Each of them kept me on the phone forever with stories, that if you are thinking about selling your property and are listing with an agent, you won't.

Province Of Ontario Moving Towards A Smoking Ban In Vehicles With Kids Present

The medical community is applauding the fact that the Province of Ontario is moving towards a smoking ban in cars with kids a priority.

Ontario Premier McGuinty recently announced that his government will introduce legislation on the ban this spring. In December, Nova Scotia banned smoking in cars with kids present.

Durham Region's medical officer of health fully supports the ban. He states that second hand smoke is a hazard, especially to children. This is intensified in the small enclosure of an automobile.

Fewer people are smoking in their vehicles every year according to a recent poll by the Region of Durham. In 2007, 80% said they will not allow any smoking in their vehicle. In 2001, it was 69%.

Disease and premature death in children is linked to second-hand smoke. Potential health problems include increased risk for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), acute respiratory infection, ear problems and more severe asthma.

In an enclosed area like a car, there is a higher concentration level of second-hand smoke. Unlike a home, there is no escape to a smoke-less area.

The province has taken a number of steps to reduce smoking which includes banning smoking in public places and work places, higher taxes on cigarettes and increasing the prices. It seems to be working as there has been a reduction in smoking.

It is speculated that the police will likely enforce the ban on smoking in cars with kids present.

Police State That Downtown Oshawa Is Not A Dangerous Place For The Public

Most feel that Oshawa's downtown is a dangerous place for the public. But is this true?

The police sergeant that heads the unit that patrols the downtown core says it is not true. He claims that there are no crime statistics that support this perception.

Since Oshawa has a small downtown, incidents can be blown out of proportion. Like any urban area, there will be crimes. He claims that major incidents are quite rare. The Durham Regional Police conduct regular patrols to combat problems such as prostitution and drug trafficking.

The new GM Centre which holds various events, is helping to bring more visitors to the downtown area. The police sustain a presence that helps control criminal activity. Citizens and visitors should not fear of venturing into downtown Oshawa.

University of Ontario Institute of Technology Is Considering Moving Part Of The Campus To Downtown Oshawa

The University of Ontario Institute of Technology is considering the possibility of moving part of the campus to downtown Oshawa. This would take place with the fall semester in 2008.

There is a space issue that has to be resolved for the start of fall classes. Rather than build a new building on campus, the university is looking at the possibility of renting some space off campus.

There have been discussions with some property owners, some locations downtown and some elsewhere in Oshawa.

UOIT officials have toured the Regent Theatre, Genosha Hotel and former Scotiabank building on Simcoe Street. They are under consideration for possible off campus sites.

The owner of the former Scotiabank building has expressed interest in having UOIT as a tenant. However, plans are underway to convert the building into a hotel.

Mayor John Gray is excited that the downtown is being considered, as students would use stores and restaurants. He also stated that it might mean a new tenant for a building that has been standing vacant.
